RECAP: Hurricanes fall short on the road against the Riptide

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Halifax Hurricanes faced a very different Riptide team then the one they saw on Thursday night in Halifax.

The Hurricanes won the first and last quarter, but it wasn't enough to erase the Riptide's comfortable lead for most of the game. After the first half, the Hurricanes played about 10-points down for the remainder of the game. This also marks the first time since December 10, 2017 that the Hurricanes have fallen short of the 100-point marker.

Billy White had a dominant game for Halifax, completing a double-double this afternoon with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Antoine Mason and CJ Washington finished the game with 15 points each.

Cliff Clinkscales continues to add to that 1,000 regular season assists milestone, finishing with 10 assists today, along with 6 points and 4 rebounds. Although five Hurricanes scored in double-digits today, the stellar performance from Gabe Freeman (30 points, 11 rebounds, 11 asissts) and Jeremiah Mordi (29 points, 9 rebonds) of the Riptide overshadowed the usual depth of the Hurricanes offense.

The Riptide now sit in first place in the Atlantic Division, as these two teams continue to knock each other off from that top spot every other game.

The Halifax Hurricanes and Saint John Riptide will face off for the fourth time this season next Saturday, February 10 at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Game time is at 7:00pm.
